HOW DARK CAN WINDOW TINT BE IN FLORIDA?
Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In Florida, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window. • WindshieldNon-reflective tint is allowed along the top of the windshield above the manufacturer's AS-1 line. • Front Side WindowsMust allow more than 28% of light in. • Back Side WindowsMust allow more than 15% of light in. • Rear WindowMust allow more than 15% of light in.

I went one shade to the illegal side on my Challenger. No one here in my town seems to get messed with by the law. My Monte has a strip on teh fron window lower than the original tint. Sure does help with the glare considering our sunvisors dont do alot.
If you're wondering what is best for you- I'd go to a tint shop and have them show you (typically the owner and most/all of the employees will have their windows tinted). I've got 5% all around on my GP with 50% over the whole windshield, and I don't have a problem, even at night. Is it harder to see through than stock- of course, but not enough that I feel it impairs the safety of my driving- especially since 99% of the areas I drive are well lit city areas.
There are others that have a hard time with even 20% at night though- so I think its best to go to a tint shop and take a look for yourself. They know the legal limits in your state, so they can tell you what is legal (assuming you still want to stay legal with it), and show you the differences.

i live in florida and was told by my tint guy that the darkest legal limit in florida is 20% in the front and 15% in the back. which is what i have. had it for about 10 months no issues. it is dark at night. but not THAT dark! i wish i would have gone darker
like on the top? i need to go get mine done. i want 5% at the top but im not sure they will offer that. you can always ask. when i got mine done i paid 130$ cash with a life time warranty. he said i could go darker but would run into "legal issues" but cops down here are pretty easy going

Then like mentioned before, go to a local shop to see what it's like. My setup is 5% in the back three windows and I use to have 20% in the door windows and people would tell me that the only thing that they could see SOMETIMES was my hand on the steering wheel.
However, after getting pulled over three times for only window tint, I made it legal.

Go to a small tint guy, no big companies. Pay cash and get it tinted how you want. I have 15% all around, and it works great at keeping the florida sun at bay. If I get pulled over, i just roll down the windows and it looks all legal.
