Default 2002 vs. 2000 SS Factory Sound System

Ok so I have kind of a weird question. I have a 2002 Monte SS and my parents have a 2000 SS. Both vehicles have the factory stereo, speakers, and amp. However my 2002 sounds way...way better than my parents. It has the best sounding stock system I have ever heard in any car ever. It has so much bass my friends call it the "Boom" "Boom" On the other hand my parents 2000 sounds terrible. It has no bass at all even with the bass the whole way up. Why is this? Did they change the sound systems on the later models? Any thoughts??? It has always perplexed me.

It's possible they installed a better amp. Look at the amp in the trunk of both cars. It's hanging under the rear shelf between the two rear speakers. The one in the 2002 is probably better. Are the stereo head units both the same inside the car?

The stereo units in both cars are identical both are bone stock. The amps on the rear shelf are identical as well. Maybe they just increased the power output on the newer models??

They both look physically identical. However the 2002 sounds much much better. I have played with the bass settings etc in the 2000 and it doesn't even come close to the 2002. How do you tell if you have the bose? Nothing in the car says bose on it and I always thought bose liked to put there name on everything. I have checked the speakers in both cars and they all say "chevy 2 door" on them. If it was bose would it say or am I wrong?

I would think so. I was thinking the same as you. I would think Bose would have their name on everything. But I could be wrong.
