For mine:

Crappy paint on steering wheel buttons and center console, "non-replaceable" lights in the Instrument panel, radio, and HVAC, various interior components rattle (particularly during the winter), FWD, glitchy electrical system, infamous LIM gasket (more of a GM issue, since several vehicles used the 3.4 and 3.8 V6), engine ticks slightly when cold, radio spits out CDs sometimes (mainly in extreme heat), and the exhaust system ahead of the muffler is already rusting (with no leaks fortunately) - car is only 6 years old and has 65k on it.

Other than that, the car is extremely reliable.

Also, for "Maw",
I don't think they had built in cup holders in any vehicle in 1972. I know that my '82 Olds 98 didn't have them and I had to use a insert. It went over the driveshaft hump in the floor. That feature didn't show up until 1985 or so..

2004 LS

Can't turn off the DRL's
While I can turn off the DRLs on my '06 by just turning the headlight **** to the left, I got tired of doing that every time I got in the car, so I just pulled the fuse for them under the hood. I assume you could do the same thing on your 2004.

Stuff that bothers me about my 2006 LT:

Squeaky steering wheel
Poor design/location of the horns, causing them to go out when they get water in them
No dead pedal/foot rest
Cheap parts that Chevy uses - especially the engine gaskets
Problem-plagued 4T65-E transmission
No manual transmission offered on this car!
Hard plastic door panels that have been used since the 2000 Monte
Chevy should have put the same brushed aluminum trim that they used on the upper dash around the radio, and a silver trim ring around the base of the shifter like on the Impala
Powertrain warranty should be longer, like Hyundai's

the headlights bother me sometimes. nothing specific to the monte. when you turn the high beams on, the regular headlights shut off. but, if you pull the lever back half way and dont click it, they both stay on. its much brighter and you see better. but, you would have to hold it that way the whole time you drive. is there any way to keep both on when you turn the high beams on?

the front cup holder under the radio is useless unless you got it in drive. the first time i figured this out was on a roadtrip. going down the road, its fine, but when i put it in park, my friend couldnt get to his drink. the back ones usually work okay, except lastnight when someone had a really tall can of tea or something. hit the breaks to keep from hitting a dear, and it flew into the floor.

only the passenger side seatbelt flaps, and the plastic cover is barely holding on. i snapped it back on, but someone keeps knocking it off with their butt when trying to climb in the back seat

it doesnt fit in the parking spaces at work, and people keep hitting it

the radio doesnt pick up very well, unless im in Atlanta, it works okay. is this typical with the shark fin antennas?

but i wouldnt trade my car for anything. im keeping it forever, even if i buy another car, i would never trade this one!

Not if you don't want to melt the wiring. When you do the "flash to pass" (pull the high beam lever half way) it runs the current for lows and highs, but since they share wires, you're sending too much current through the line at one time. It's okay every now and then to just flash, but to leave it like that, you'll melt the wiring. That's why when one's on the other isn't.

There is, it is called the quad-light mod. BBE has a write-up. If you drive around holding the MFS half-way, you are sending too much current and risk shorting out your wires (so I wouldn't do that)

The shark-fin isn't your radio antenna. That is built into the rear window. Yes the reception on them suck.

What bugs me is the 6th gen factory stereos don't have an MP3 input. And I don't mean the ability to play MP3's loaded onto a CD like the Cobalt radios do. To play my freakin ipod, I either have to install an aftermarket radio and lose all the car's chimes and features that need the factory stereo. Or I have to hack into my wiring, install aftermarket harnesses, and other custom work. Just to play my f***ing ipod.

This is something that bothered the crap out of me when I owned my 1999 Grand Am. I thought for sure a 2004 car would've had an MP3 input. Apparantly when it comes to stereos, the 6th gen Montes got left over 1990's crappy factory head units. Thanks GM!
