Almost all the features you can control via the radio (oil life and tire pressure) the car has a non-radio way to also control them (I believe it's all in the owners manual). I believe the only thing that you can't do without the radio or a Tech II is program key fobs and set the key fob chirp options.
GM makes a couple radios (one line for truck and another for cars). The '04-'05 Cavvy and Venture Van MP3 radio with the part number 10348717 is what works in my Monte (see link below).
'04 Monte Carlo SS - Factory MP3 Radio
As for the cost of programming, it ran me nothing because of who I knew.
From what I understand, you run into a couple situations... A dealer may do it for a small fee, a dealer may do it for free OR because this radio is not an option in the car per GM, you may have to sweet talk the dealer to at least try programming it.

David, No Worries, This is an Info for all site. That is one of the good things about MCF.
Jason, Greg and Soaxin, thanks for the Info.
The Previous owner did not leave the Factory Head Unit with the car. I Think the Factory harness is still there.
I'm looking for a Pioneer Head Unit with Aux and USB inputs, HD Radio, That allows me to control my Aux input level. Don't want DVD, Touch Screen or Nav. 4 channel RCA output with Sub output. (Only cause I know me and Sound, if I don't have Full Range Sound the Music just doesn't sound complete!).
I don't really want the Chime. And I have used the gas peddle to reset my Oil Life. The Security is my Biggest Issue. I still have not pulled the Aftermarket Alarm to even see who the manufacturer is. But I know it wasn't installed right because it is supposed to Override the Pass-lock System. But it does not. If I remote start the car it runs fine but the next time I go to start it either with the key or the remote I have to do a Re-Learn. Figured that out through Trial and Error!
I think any Head Unit I get would have to have a Security Feature in order to work with the Pass-Lock. But I will Find out.
Jason, I keep on Forgetting to Download the Owners Manual from the Link you provided. I took a Look at it on my phone but I didn't want that big of a PDF file in my phones memory. I did see a lot of useful info in it. It's a Great Thing you do for we the Members!!!
I will look up those interfaces!
Off this topic for a moment: David, I just Ordered the VGate OBD II Mini Scanner For Android Phones. Can't wait to Plug it in!!!!!!

Mine is pretty fun JC. I use the torque pro app. Cause they have alot of GM support. Only issue i have had with my adapter was it wouldn't run the emissions tests on a 2000 Chrysler town and country. But works beautifully with my 02 and gives me real time data. Gives you alot of raw data to look at too so even if you dont get a pcm code you can look for any issues the car might be having. So far, I like it. Cant wait till they get abs and srs support (if they do that is)
What is SRS? I want it to read and Reset BMC and trans data!!!!!! Basicly I want one unit that will tell me everything there is to know about my car. But this is a good start. I haven't ordered the App yet. They won't let me use paypal and I refuse to put my card info on the T-Mobile App site. Just going to go to the T-Mobile store in my area and have them take the payment for me!

Hiroska, you are the resident Sound System Guru! Any assistance from you is very welcome!
I know what I want to do, it's just a matter of makingit work in my YellaJAC. Ultimately, it's all about the Quality Sauce!!!!!

Soaxin, the current stereo was installed by the previous owner. I don't think he new much about cars. Kinda obvious from the amount of time and money I've spent bringing my Monte back to Life. When I did take the head unit out to connect the rear speakers, there was a harness adaptor connected to the radio. But I didn't install in. The speakers are connected wrong. Backs connected to the front and vise versa. It's not going to be hard to fix. I'm into Quality sound, not just loud music. And I would like to control from the steering wheel So I don't have to take my eyes too far away from the road ahead. I've built Windsor shattering systems in the past. But you could hear every instrument. I've never had steering controls. It's like when I got my first car that had a sun roof, Power antenna and a cup holder. I'm a little Boy with a new toy and I wanna play with it. I'm sure all of you, Boys and Girls, know that feeling!
Sorry to run on about this. I'm only in the planing stage right now. Not even gonna start buying until spring! I've just found that planing ahead gets me the sound quality I want from the end result!
I do appreciate all you guyzes and girlzis help!!!!
