I guess it depends on what you like... I will actually crack the windows in the winter time just to hear the engine and exaust a little better, love that sound and rumble... With the mods done thus far it is not quiet in the passenger compartment... My wife likes the car, but doesn't appreciate the constant drone inside, that's why it's my car and hers is as quiet as a mouse (sewing machine motors don't produce alot of anything... lol...)... Good luck with your project...

I bought the car for the style and the fact that it has a pretty nice interior. I drive quite a bit so I really like quietness on these trips. Don't get me wrong I certainly love the rumble at times and the fact the car came with some decent horsepower is only a plus. Before I bought this I was seriously considering starting a muscle car. This though not old gives me both luxury and muscle.
Let's face it American car makers are not known for quiet cars. Ford is starting to get it though I suspect this came from the Germans. It will certainly be interesting to see the end result. I am told that it will give me Lexus quietness. It certainly wasn't that loud to begin with so my hope is whisper quiet. If not it will have been a good experiment.

Default progress

Wanted to pass along before and after shots of the trunk area. Took about 2.5 hours to remove and reinstall interior including seat removal. Next up is the interior floor and aft sides.

Default progress followup-Complete!

Wanted to pass along a couple of photos of the completed sound deadening project. Haven't taken it for a highway drive as I didn't finish up until late last night and didn't want to go snowmobiling with it. I can state that just a quick road drive has proven a noticeable difference. I was pleasantly surprised to find how easy the interior comes apart. The only area that threw me was the hangar hooks in the back seat above the windows. That was a new one. I use to work on cars for a living and would had never thunk.

Cheers!

on the tire thing you can look into 245/45/18. thats what im running no issues. i dont know if it would give you many more choices, but its worth a shot.

and jeez you werent joking about sound deading. i didnt think you were going to pull the whole interior of the car out. wow. i thought that my 06 was plenty quiet, but then again that would be comparing it to my 80.

Default final update

So it has been awhile after completing the soundproofing project and I wanted to report back as to what the outcome was.

Did it make a difference? Absolutely. Was it worth it? Hmm...

I have not addressed my noisy tire issue so I still hear some of this. What I have noticed is that any road noise is a muffled low rumble. Chevy had placed some asphalt type of sound deadening material on the floor from the factory so they already recognized an issue. I would say the biggest noticeable difference was the doors and any engine sound coming from the pipes are now non-existent at idle.

So if your bored and have some decent technical abilities along with $120 bucks or so, it would be worth it. It would have been nice to have a sound meter to measure the difference before and after.

I'm glad it worked out. Thanks for the update.
I was thinking about doing the same to mine. Don't like the road noise. But I also don't have the ambition to pull the seats and carpetting out of the car either.
