Default Newbie with some questions...

Hello all... just found this forum, have a few questions about my Monte.

1. Approximate value of a completely stock, 100% original, clean, low-milage, '79 standard coupe (not a Landau or T-top) with the 305 engine?

2. The original yellow paint is still nice, but getting noticeably dull and faded. Is it better to repaint the car to make it look new again, or to leave the original paint even though it's no longer perfect? Refinishing a musical instrument, for example, immediately makes it far less collectible. While it's not as clearcut with cars, original paint does seem to command a premium, so I'm kinda ambivalent here.

3. My car has a black cloth interior. According to the dealer brochure, cloth was standard and vinyl optional. Also, black cloth was the only one available with every exterior color. Yet I have only ever seen one other '79 Monte with the black cloth interior, also yellow. Most cars seem to have vinyl in fairly ugly 70's colors like tan and blue and red. Why is that? Just how rare is the combination of yellow exterior and black cloth interior? Are there any records of how many were build in each color?

Welcome to MCF!!!

I've seen 79's in near perfect condition sell for 3-4K....

Have you had the paint buffed out yet?
