I don't have a pic, but you can look at the other wheel, it's done the same basic way.
There is a bracket that sits between the hub and the steering knuckle that holds the connectors. I found it's IMPORTANT on how you position the hub for that wire! I found different year/make W-body cars, the side of the "triangle" that wire came out of was different (I had hub bolts started once when I found I did it wrong, luckily, quick correction).

When I did my Hubs, the wire came out of the hub towards the fire wall. The clip was attached to the spacer that is between the hub and the nuckle. Then the wire went down under the axle and was zip tied to the control arm in 2 places. The wire then travels across the car and on to the PCM. But the actual connection is right by the hub. The wire out of the hub was only about 4" long.

I didn't see any OEM clips So I used zip ties. There was nothing holding the wire loom down. And I know it wasn't changed before that with the condition the suspension was in when I got the car. There may not have been anything. After all, GM makes Cars not Sense!

From the factory, the wire travels down the control arm. The factory uses clips you can pop open with a screw driver to hold the wire to the control arm. I have had situations where the clips where not re-usable (broke due to age or other issues) and I zip-tied the wire to the control arm. No issues.
But the actual connector mounts to a piece of metal that is sandwiched between the hub and the knuckle (unfortunately, I don't have easy access to the Monte to get a pic of it). When you remove the knuckle, the metal piece I'm talking about normally comes off at the same time and you have to put it back (the bolts also go through that metal piece). If it's not there, it's possible it was damaged at some point by someone doing a hub replacement before.
I would recommend replacing that piece (sadly, I think it's a dealer only piece). But I'm sure it is possible to improvise without it safely (as it sounds like that was done before).

I did a google image search. I can't find a pic showing what I want. But I found this. You can clearly see the metal piece I'm talking about that is sandwiched between the hub and the knuckle. What you don't see is the part of it that holds the connector
