Right after i got my car I got a ticket for no front licence plate. I went down there and showed them a picture of the front end with the licence plate on and they dismissed it, and i live in texas.

I got a written warning for not having a license plate on the front of my firebird. And my firebird doesn't even have a place for a license plate. I had to buy this ugly black mount and screw it into the front. It was awful.

The law is the law though, you were obviously in the wrong. It's not a matter of the filler being stock or not, its a matter of did you have a license plate on your bumper.

I've been tempted to put my filler on and keep the front plate sitting under the driver's seat incase. But changed my mind. Just use the filler piece in pics and if I want to show the car.

I also considered getting custom plates with just the number 8 on it. So I could put my filler piece on, and argue that the filler piece is accurate.

x2 on the warning for my '02... i just had to put it on and go to the police station to have a cop sign off on it (that a plate was on) and then keep the signed release in the car for 6 months (and not get a similar offense{keep the plate on})... UNFORTUNATELY the warning was issued December 21st or so, and on my way back to town Christmas night she rolled! (that made getting the signature a little more interesting!)

i saw someone said earlier that they went in with a picture of it on... worth a shot until you get pulled over again! otherwise, in SD, a plate is "legally mounted" in the windshield if it's on the passenger side in the dash...

... clever on the plates with an 8 on it... too bad plates need more than 1 digit and, even if it worked, you'd have to place your tabs on your filler! [] paint nightmare!

i still want a filler for my Intimidator... i will put the plate in the windshield when i drive... i don't care if i get pulled over! (btw, the filler saved me from a speeding ticket as the cop that gave me the warning was using LIDAR and couldn't get a lock since i had no plate!)

Yep, here in Texas, by law, you must have a front and back plate. My son got a written warning for having his in his windshield. That officer told him it HAD to be at the farthest point on the vehicle (meaning on the bumper) I called the State about it after doing lots of checking online and they said it just had to be visible from the front, that the law does NOT specifically state WHERE just as long as it's visible and on the front.
You need to check your state laws, your's may say if has to be on the bumper.
