has anyone else ever heard of this?
I went to a car show like event today and i saw another dale jr. monte just like mine and i went to talk to the owner about it and we were talking and he was telling me how he used to work for gm till 2006 and that the 2004 dale jr. monte sc has stock 275 hp. he said its the only one chevy made special and said that they tuned up the computer and other stuff to it. he also said that chevy just says it is 240 hp for insurance reasons. Has anyone else heard this or is this guy crazy?
it seems doubtful. i work in parts and have connections at dealerships. ill check numbers on computers tomorrow. if the computer or prom is different he may b on to something but .. i also listen to complete bsers all day long about "their" car. so its doubtful ha
When I drive my dale jr edition, it doesn't feel like 275 hp to me.
The dale jr editions are mechanically the same as all the other supercharged 2004 & 2005 Monte's. The dale jr edition is an appearance package only. I think that guy was blowing smoke trying to convince people that his car has "secret" power nobody else knows about.
If it was true, people would've noticed the difference in power by now. And the dale jr editions would be in big demand. Which they aren't. As you can find them for sale all over the place, with no takers.

I don't think the 2004 Monte's have chips. Pretty sure the entire PCM would have to be re-programmed. Either way, it wouldn't be stock.
People talk big about their cars all the time. Hoping to impress people who don't know better. As soon as you call them out on it with facts to back you up, they back down.
