6th Gen ('00-'05): Changing Tie Rod Ends.. Is it hard?
I've change mine on my 04 Monte ss a couple of weeks ago very simple, just remember if you're new tie rods are the exact same length as the old ones make sure you count the unscrewing rotations of the tie rod, mine were around 15+/- .If the new tie rods are shorter than you subtract a few rotations, and if they're longer than add a few rotations. Basically if they're the same length your rotations should be the same, but what ever you do make sure your steering wheel is always STRAIGHT or even. You'll most likely need an alignment afterwards. Here's a video of changing tie rods on a cadi, it is the exact same process on the Monte, or pretty much any car, only a 2 minute video. The nut he unscrew at the 0:57 mark, you'll probably end up having to cut off with a hacksaw or grinder. Real easy you can do it!
