cant get air out tryed squeezing hoses.start car while cool with heater on dont get nothing but steam. gets hot instantly if try drive. HELP!

 

Maybe you have a lower intake manifold leak letting more air into the system.

 

What year Monte? I know on the 6th gen there should be a plug thing at the top of the thermostat housing that you can loosen with a socket to get the air out... I know this is a crazy question but have you checked your coolant level? Another troubleshooting step is to take out your thermostat and put it in some boiling water for a few minutes, take it out and see if it closes up to check to see if its working properly.

 

I forgot to mention this , sometimes you can take your oil cap off and look for yellowish stuff in it.

 

- Have you ensured you have proper amount of coolant?
- Do you get any large white clouds out the exhaust?
- Have you checked for leaks?
- This sounds nuts, but I've done this once, take it for a drive, when it's past the threshold for when T-Stat opens and fans kick and it's still climbing (but not in the red), pull over, leave the car idling, open the bleeder for a second (air should shoot out).

BTW - In my experience, failed LIM gaskets cause coolant leaks (so you'll be running low on coolant often) and unless you are low on coolant, the gauge should not read hot.

 

raised front of car took bleeder out filled with coolant until ran out of bleeder. tightened bleed. then took top rad hose off to be certain is full of coolant. poured coolant in hose and replaced. started engine brought up to temp topping off coolant as it burped. oh yeah had the heater on and fan turned off. still gets hot. cracked bleeder and all get is dteam. never had this much trouble. but dont deal with new chebbys. just dont understand.

 

all i did was flush system to get crappy dex cool out. now this mess

 

no leaks no signs of head gasket failure or intake fail.

 

Theres obviously something else going on here.....

If all you did was a fluid flush.....Maybe in the process something plugged up? Only have 2 other suggestions....Try re flushing the system...and boiling the thermostat to see that it operates properly..

2nd) I would pressureize the system and check to see if it leaks down....
to eliminate any leaks from upper or lower intakes....
How about leaveing the radiator cap off..while its running and see if you have any flow?
As the thermostat opens and closes....



Did you maybe try throwing it over your shoulder and lightly tapping it on the back? Just kidding!

 

fixed got air out old fashioned way. filled coolant run till hot let cool add coolant. donre this 2 times now good shape thanks .
