Exclamation about the gxp calipers upgrade? need major calrification

hey guys, i was about to change my brakes then i found my calipers were seized..womp womb but i get to upgrade them with out feeling bad about the old parts
i remember reading somewhere but i couldn't find it, it was about upgrading the calipers from stock to the gxp ones? i think..
i just picked up fresh drilled rotors i believe they are 12 inches...will they be ok for that mod? i have the stock 16" rims (dnt really want to change em, too much$)

an other thing, i have an 02 SS...i should get the 04 pontiac gxp calipers and brakes or am i wrong about the year?
and will the calipers fit the same bracket or do i have to tell the parts store i need the brackets too?
basically just want to know what is it exactly i need

gxp calipers (year unknown)
caliper brackets? do i need em?
rotors...do i have to get different ones or the 12" ones i have(stock) will be fine
anything else?

thanks guys

I don't think any brake upgrades will fit with 16" wheels. I know my stock caliper is like 1/4" away from the wheel.

Why upgrade to GXP calipers on stock size rotors? I could see switching over to the complete GXP kit to get the ~13" rotors- but you're never going to get that to clear a 16" wheel.

Why not just get some replacement stock calipers if you're set on stock rotor size and 16"s?

I just rebuilt my calipers after having them powder coated (was real easy to do, but for the time and hassle getting the kits, if you have nothing "special" I'd go stock).

I contemplated a "caliper" upgrade (like F-body calipers), but I was not certain I liked the results I read (and could not validate if the results were from poor bleeding or nature of the beast). Biggest issue was "further pedal travel" (which even some that used stainless braided flex lines still stated was an issue, I suspect by needing a little more volume of fluid then stock).

So I kept stock calipers, added Goodridge braided stainless flex lines, AC Delco Advantage Heavy Duty Rotors and Bendix Performance Ceramic Brake Pads. I am 100% THRILLED with the brakes (only thing I could have done better is use Hawk brake pads, they are SUPER grabby, but cost about double the Bendix). I use very little pedal travel and the brakes feel firmer then before.

F body calipers on Centric drilled / slotted 12" rotors now for over 3 years, no problems. Have the Goodridge braided steel brake lines, German Super Blue Racing silicone brake fluid and use the Federal Mogul "Wagner" ThermoQuiet pads.Once they heat up, your stopping..........

Same way with my Hawk PC pads. The only problem is they eat rotors every 10k miles. They hold so much heat in the rotor it causes warping. And I have tried using some costly rotors.
