Default 3.73 Rear End Upgrade: Complete

Well the Monte has another milestone done (and for now)
So quick little post.
I had granny gears 2.41 and I threw the 7.625 SS Rear End with 3.73 gears (non-posi) over the weekend
I don't see myself tearing up this rear end anytime soon.....ill probably only upgrade to a 442 8.5 Posi, all I probably need.

I also adjusted the cable in my 700R, so i'm shifting so much firmer its ridiculous (and dangerous)
Good time to learn my shift points for those nice curves :-D

I havn't installed my tach yet, so I have no idea what im turning (will do VERY soon)...and I have no speedo (so off because with engine+tranny+rear end swap..you know how that goes).
I am very glad I went with the 50 Flows mufflers I have, because long trips won't be anything, because they handle drone so well. Noise level of course went up with the extra RPMs...but like I said with those mufflers, they handle them great IMO.
I am going to get some calculations that I need to get my speedo back right.
But I have a speedo+ET+0-60 all that on my phone, so no worries

Anyone have any questions, I (may) can answer them

Good Luck Everyone on their projects.

That gear change will realy make that Monte Carlo haul. A posi would be great in your ride. I imagine you're getting a lot of wheel spin now that you've moved to a 3.73.

ah yeah, that ratio puts out a healthy dose of wheel spin

dead stop to floor....spin spin spin, then it catches and its all go from there.

Its a literally night and day swap......

Sweet. But why didn't you just change the gears, instead of swapping rearends?

The rear end under was 2.41 which is a carrier 2 rear...the compatible gears wouldn't have gotten me up enough......The section of gears I want need a carrier 3..and im not going to use thick gears and all that to make something that's exactly designed to work..well work.....

I actually wanted 3.42s.....

I am now focused on paint and body now......then I have to go to interior.....then ill go back on the mechanical side
I can't see myself paying so much for a 9" or such.....ill prob. as said get a 8.5 rear and that will satisfy me welllll over what I "need"
Rear Ends need to be strong to be right and hold up.....but with that they are very expensive... so it was WAY more cost efficient right now, to buy the whole car....I got a rear end+the other parts I needed and a bountiful of other parts for the same price I would have paid for just one part.
