Default Complete Upgrade

Hey guys, I got my 2003 SS Monte Carlo in November and since it is cold out I was going to wait to till Summer till I can do a whole bunch of mods. I have a complete list of mods and upgrades I want to do. So I am going to list it and I need your feedback if these are a good idea or if you think I should not do something.

Firstly Exterior: I want to make my monte carlo look like the highsport package. So I found a link 2000-2003 Monte Carlo SS Checkered Flag & Decal Kit that will give me the decals I need.

Secondly I wanted to do rally stripes across the hood of the car and down. I don't know if thats a good idea ive seen it before but I need more opinois. If I dont get rally stripes I though Fender stripes would look good too. Next I currently have the surfboard spoiler and it is killing me. I hate it so much I want this mod to be the first one. I know the whole situation with spoilers for MC. Im thinking get the deck holes filled and painted along with buying the pace car of ebay and getting that painted and mounted too. One of the mods that is really expensive but one I want badly is the Ground effects and rocker panel fascia. I have a red MC and I wanted the ground effects to offset it with black. So I found a link with that.Ground Effects Package - SS - Black 12498143

Expensive but it might be worth it seeing as how it would deff add style and its allready painted. For lighting im thinking about some 6k HIDS and a LED interior glow kit. I am also gonna get a radar detector just because if your not driving a Monte fast your not driving at all .

I have recently ordered Black rims with a red trim for my Summer set of wheels and my stocks will be my Winter. I will have a painted red caliper. The exhaust system was pretty wimpy when I got it so I put in a thrush glasspack muffler and im thinking about getting these tips but painting them black. Gibson Rolled Exhaust Tips

my interior I was thinking a dash kit such as the one here. Sherwood Dash Kits - Sherwood Molded and Flat Dash Trim Kits I dont know if i would get the red one or the black carbon fiber one. I am also going to get a steering wheel cover and new floor mats. As for the seats I love how the highsport package MC came two tone so I was thinking take the seats out and mask them and paint them with red stripes with red vinyl paint. Headrest go to a embroider shop and get them with SS logo. A couple door sills for the side and maybe a new sound system. with subs and a touchscreen head unit. Once that is all done paint the bars in the engine bay red detail the engine and car. That should be it I know its alot but ill work for my car. I love MC I spent 6 months looking for a good condition monte with low miles. Finally one day I found an '03 online about 50 min drive but it only had 72,000 miles compared to the 90,000 115,000+ ones ive been seeing.

While I was at the dealership two offers were made at the same time because it was a good buy. and two days later when I went back up to get the plates and final paperwork as I was walking out someone was walking in looking for the one I just bought anyways let me know what you think

First off IMO you would be better off getting an SS with stand up spoiler and high sport ground effect kit rather than switching yours out.
Second -definitely no to fender stripes but yes to rally and side stripes. Another member just did that.
Third- no painting on your seats, get the real thing. Sounds like you really should buy a 2000 pace car, has it all you want.
By the time you accomplish all this, you could have had the pace car.

Again-this is just my opinion, I am sure others will chime in.

Wow that's hard to read.

What exactly are you trying to do? lol

I'm assuming most of the information you're looking for is on the site... from the post above that would be the highsport, interior, spoiler... etc.

Hi 03RedSS,

Would really like to see pictures of your Monte S.S. as it is now ?

What is your mod budget ? How do you rate the condition of your Monte as it is now ? Body/Paint/Mechanic's.
Is everything serviced ? Belts/hoses/trans etc. Tires/brakes/rotors, exhaust/shocks/struts etc....

Just a suggestion before you spend your hard earned money on appearance, I would suggest making your Monte in Top Condition b-4 you Mod...There's nothing worst then having a Great appearing Monte that won't run & is constantly breaking down...

It's your time & your $'s and it great to ask for opinions & suggestion, but in the end, it's your Monte & I would `do what you want to do to it...
What matter most is how you see your Monte & want it 2 `be

Wish you good luck & check back to see what our member's advise...Peace/Out from `Space

You should get an SS with stand up spoiler and high sport ground effect kit rather than switching yours out, The cost of parts & time it would be cheaper to buy a high-sport SS..

There's no doubt about it that your plans will make your Monte look great.

However, looking at how much that would cost to gather those exterior items, have them painted, and then go about there interior, you would be cheaper to pick up a different Monte that already has these things. I'd look for '00 Pace Car, or a red Supercharged SS that has the hi-sport Or a Dale Jr. Monte and add racing Stripes

Next, the checker board decals are not related to the High Sport package, those are Pace Car only items. I don't believe the cheapo eBay ones are the same as the true GM ones (just a heads up). The GM ones have a little fade effect to them, the after market ones I see are solid, no fade.

I love the high sport package, but 90% of people will NEVER notice it but you. My favorite part is how it frames the rear exhaust tips. I considered it, but the time/money to do it I felt was a waste for something so small only I would notice it.

As for the vertical/NASCAR spoiler, if you can score an '06-07 vertical spoiler, it uses the same bolt holes as your current surfboard (I and a few others have made that switch).

Just don't badge the car a Pace Car when it really isn't is my primary request. Otherwise, just be aware of the cost involved and that you might be better sourcing another ride and starting from that point forward.

X2 I forgot to mention this! If you passed it off as a Pace Car you'd have to include to everyone that its a "Monte Carlo Pace Car Replica" Replica/Clone

The decals that don't fade don't look as great IMO but everyone has there own opinion of course

I always find it interesting to see what others do to their Monte. Can't wait to see what happens when you do start modding.

First off... Congrats on your New Monte... You have quite a list of mods that would definately make your Monte extremely nice... That being said, once you tally up the cost of all those mods, I beleive you will find that you would be much better off starting with an SS "Limited Edition', Pace Car, or Signature Car as anyone of these would already have 80-90% of your mod wish list included... And from my experience, these cars are usually higher mileage, but the owners usually have taken extremely good care of them and shown a real pride of ownership... Also as stated, I agree that the SS "Limited Edition"/Pace Car/Signature Car's should not be copied unless clearly identified as replica's or clones... Just my opinion... Good luck & post some pics...
