My shop charged me a flat rate of $400 to put in my used transmission, Instead of working hourly we negotiated that nice flat rate since I was "on a budget"

(I love that line )

Not to mention, the 4t65HD from your year would use a different stall torque converter, and would also have lower gearing (2.93 vs 3.29) meaning your car would be noticeably slower than it was before.

I can almost guarantee you that they are NOT putting an HD transmission in it. Simply, they are not going to do something like that as a warranty repair.

Also, in 2006/2007, the gear ratios are different. The 4T65 has several different gear ratios depending on the engine its put with (in fact it always has). The 3.5L gets a 2.86 gear ratio, the 3.9L gets a 3.29 gear ratio, and the 5.3L gets a 3.29 gear ratio.

These are the available ratios for the 4T65:

2.86-Standard Differential only, found with the 3500
3.05-Standard Differential only, found with the 3400
3.29-Standard Differential & HD Differential, found with 3800/3800 SC/3900/5.3L

The Drive and Driven sprocket ratio will directly factor in to calculate the overall transmission ratio. For example most of the Supercharged 3800 powered vehicles come with a 3.29 HD differential but they have a 37/33 sprocket orientation and this will overdrive the transmission and create an overall ratio of 2.93:1
