Noise under the hood is caused by the engine

Sorry, couldn't resist. Based on what I read it still sounds vague. Years ago, with my first car, I had an engine over heat and for a while it sounded like a tail pipe riding on the ground (until it seized). But I doubt this is the case.

Based on what you mentioned, the noise occurs when braking and shortly after releasing the brakes. My guess is maybe the warning tabes on your brake pads are just starting to rub the rotor. Check the pads.

Well I took the car into a local tire place to fix a leak caused by a nail (my town recently flooded and the city refuses to clean the streets) I told them to check the brakes and anything else that could cause this but they replaced the valve stem and called it good. Ill take it into the chevy dealer since I have Cal Error on the radio too. I'll keep you guys posted.

Sorry for posting this late but I got my car back from my mechanic. He told me it was the Steering wheel column. Said that its made of 2 pieces and they were klanking together to form this noise. I didn't have him fix it since he claimed it wouldnt hurt my car if it was left and he also wanted 1500 dollars for it. Anybody know how hard of a fix this would be on my own? thanks.
