I have a 04 Dale Jr Monte Carlo and unfortunately the transmission went out looking for another one was told has to come out of a 04-05 Impala monte or a 04 grand Prix is this true thought all l67s use the same set up as far as engine and transmission any help greatly appreciated

 

I don't know enough if that is true. There can be various mixed factors with the trans. Such as but not limited to:
- They may have different gearing in different years
- Possibly changed the wiring controls
- Could be a change in generations of the transmission, such as it's internals (mechanical and electrical)

It could also be that there was a change with the trans but you could in theory use any earlier year trans.

I recall reading in 2004 that trans had a couple improvements over previous years. That might be part of the issue about why you are told it has to be an 04-05.

Honestly, you may want to consider looking up Triple Edge Performance or a reputable transmission shop for a rebuild.

 

Thanks for the info about the tranny and the pcm arrived today will b hooking it up when I get home
