glad you got it fixed, sucks about the $300, hopefully he can help you out next time and you get a decent discount on the work!!!

 

It does suck but I think he is a man of his word. The guy that I go to for all my suspension and front end work has known him for years and said he is one of the only honest mechanics left. I've been going to the suspension guy for about 18 years so I trust his judgement.

that is great to hear, it is so difficult to find a good honest mechanic these days! I thought I had a good one, I may let him do work on my car, but he always just scribbles the fix issues down and never does any computer generated paperwork, kinda makes me wonder, especially if nothing ever gets reported for CARFAX purposes!! also my monte has never needed anything yet so far, I may take it to a chevy dealer, but still not sure!!!

 

This mechanic does use the computer and his prices are very fair compaired to a lot of other places. He also lets me buy the parts if I want to. This is the first time I've had a problem like this. He has done two other intake gasket replacement jobs for me and replaced a head gasket with no problems.

Sounds like an honest but stupid mistake. If he has a short memory, get yourself a new mechanic.
