so does my trans have 3.23 like you said mike (chibi) or 3.05 gears?

this is what i saw on the TEP page...

There are numorous gear ratio combination options for the 4T65E transmission and below are ratio options that can be found

-Final drive-differential ratios

2.86:1 in standard differential only
3.05:1 in standard differential only
3.29:1 in standard differential and also the HD (Heavy Duty) and Volvo version differential

the salvage yard where i got my motor from has one from an 03 impala and it says it has 3.05 gears?

It's my understanding that ALL L36 engines with the 4t65e have 3.29:1

All L67 with the 4t65e-HD have 2.93:1

Man Frank, that stinks!!! I watched the video and it's definitely NOT shifting up. My gut tells me your current trans has to be repairable. Since you can remove everything yourself, i wonder if there is any benefit to getting advise from a reputable transmission shop.

I hope you can get something all set to make it all road worthy again!!

These are the options it gives me when I pick an impala

They have one under the 3.05 ratio for $375 but it has 119k miles lol

And they also have a monte one for $450, he didn't tell me the mileage though

Well the Impala didn't have the L67 until 2004.

I really don't think we have any 3.05:1 ratio transmissions. If you are really scared of buying the wrong one, go check your RPO codes on your car.

Just did that with mine, and I see:

FR9 RATIO TRANSAXLE FINAL DRIVE 3.29 3.29R(FR9)

I have no idea why 3.05:1 is listed
