Well an LS6 in almost any car would definitely take out my LS1, especially if it was cammed with the LS6 intake. There are a few really extravagant setups people have done with their Monte Carlo, shows how far a love for the car can take you.

just so you know the motor in your car is an ls6 with out the cam or heads. i dont know about 01 but in 02 the camaros got the ls6 intake from the factory. all you would need is the ls6 heads and cam and your motor would be pretty much the same as an ls6. ppl on tech sell the ls6 heads from time to time, but theres way better head/cam/intake combos for your car that would make way more power than an ls6 set up.

I didn't know the LS1 and LS6 were so similar. And I had read that for the 2001-2002 Camaro LS1's they all contained the LS6 intake. How much in gains do you think getting LS6 head and cam would give me?

the ls1 intake i believe has an egr the ls6 doesnt. on tech theres pics on there so you know what to look for. the ls1 is underrated at 305 its more like 350hp. the ls6 is 400hp. so it should gain 50hp. like i said theres better combos out there but if you wanted to make it look factory stock then that would be the way to go. your heads should be #241s the ls6s are #243. ls4s have the 243s they just have smaller intake valves. the only bonuses really to doing a ls6 cam and head swap on your car would be that it would look factory stock and it would probably be barely noticeable at idle or normal driving. all honesty youre probably better off throwing a set of 305/315 tires in the rear, doing a lid, converter, some gearing, and long tube headers. from the factory theyre capable of high 12s if you can really drive it. doesnt take many bolt ons to get to the low 12s. h/c/i cars should go in the 11s and faster. its all a matter of how fast you want to go. if you dont want to get wild, just want some more, ls6 is ok. if you want to get crazy though best thing to do is to do it right once and get a real cam and heads.

Don't bother IMO- would it really be worth all the gaskets, fluids, and hours of wor?- if nothing else, I'd at least opt for an aftermarket cam instead- you're doing all the work, may as well shell out a little more money and make much more power.
