jack is down again please help
So my oil pressure kept goin up and down and I was also getting the light in the message box. I dropped my son off and looked under the csr to find that there was oil everywhere. Put 2 quarts in toget to work ma girl gonna drop more off ttomorrow. I found the source there was oil gushing out of this part. What is this? Its the one with the greenish wire showing. Also how hard would it be to replace this?

When their time is up it's up. My GMC truck's just gave way a couple weeks back. I don't believe it has anything to do with your engine having internal issues, these things have a limited life. I think a ratchet, extension and socket is all you need to replace it. Your new one will let you know the socket size once you get her home and match a socket up to it.
Don't over tighten it when you put the new one in. Insure you clean off most of the oil from the electrical connector so you don't cause false reading.
GM ones are notorious for failing from what I have seen.

The seal probably sent bad. The hardest thing is getting to it. Other than that it should be a snap. And you may need to drain the oil before you do it, but I'm not sure, never done one before.

Most deff dude, If your socket is the same size as my 7th gen, I have the # socket out in the car NOW, and ill provide it to you. But most deff, I could tell mine was going back cause of a check engine light popping up and my car kept using a stupid amount of oil..more than usual...

I can't see the pic at work, but I'm guessing it's an oil pressure sending unit. I have yet to change one on a 3800, but I've done a few 3400 and 3100 engines.
They make a special socket just for that sensor. So if you can't reach it with the tools you have, buy the socket for the task (that's how I ended up buying one).
The part is usually pretty cheap. First time I had one spraying oil, when I learned what it was, it came as a relief it was quick, easy and cheap.

yes the pic shows the oil pressure sending unit, its a pain to get to but not a hard fix at all.... just make sure its leaking through the sending unit and that the oil filter neck is not cracked or something crazy like that.... my vote is the sending unit though over anything else.

Ma girl gonna drop some oil off and she boight the part for me so imma tackle this tonight. And turbo from what I saw it was deff spraying from that black thing. But why could ot be hard to get? From what I seen I jus take the wheel offand I got it from there. Anyone had things get in the way?
