I don't think it will mess anything up so much as just being a waste of $$$...
I have not been able to find one that works for the 3400, but someone here noted that the 3.8L unit also worked for the 3400. I can not find my old e-mails of my conversation with Hypertech, but I thought I remember him saying that they do not have one for the 3400. I would send them an e-mail just to confirm.

Yeah it worked charms for my '04 Dale Jr edition. Bought it from PFYC.com. Sold the car, but kept the programmer. Come to think of it, If anyone needs/wants it contact me. $100 bucks sound reasonable?
