Default Tranny..

ok so lets say your on the highway doin like 75 and your prolly around 2grand. say you come up on somebody and let of the gas for a couple seconds and then get back on it, not flooring it, but just gettin back into a little pedal. do any of your cars rev up to like 24-2600 at first then go back to like 2000? It seems it slips the gear a bit then settles back down. I can't remember if it did this from the get go, but i've been noticing it latley. I dont have any problems with it under power or shifting, and I hope my mind is just playin games with me. I'd appreciate it if you guys would tell me the same thing happens with yours haha.

You know, I have been thinking that the tranny is kinda tricky in the monte. (mine is an '05 LT) I have noticed that it acts unusually when the trac control is on (push to 3/4 throttle to pass and it doesn't down shift then suddenly kicks down to 1st gear) I think that the tranny is a little tempermental, no?

I have been reading lots of threads where members are blaming their intake for the lag experienced when shifting to passing gear, but I think it's the tranny. I also notice that it holds on to the gear for a second if you shift into N while on the hwy then takes a couple seconds to shift back once you put it back into gear. I was hoping that the Hypertech programmer would alleviate some of this problem with the shifting settings. I am looking to buy one for that and other reasons.

Our trans are tempermental, I've noticed on occasion that mine does the same thing you both described. Hypertech will cure many of these issues by increasing line pressure and setting your shift points better than stock.

i had the same issue but i thought that it was a big prob so i took it in and they said it was fine, i have friends at the dealership that are very good to my car so i know they wont steer me wrong, they said the car was normal, so i think its in our heads, other than that, i wish i had the 3.8 so i can tune the car with hypertech. dam.
