I see... well, this is how a 6-71 setup works:
The lower intake manifolds sits on top of your cylinder heads
The 6-71 sits on top of your lower intake manifold
Your carb sits on top of the 6-71

You never blow boost through the carb- the output of the carb is boosted by the blower into the lower intake manifold.

So...you're eliminating your concerns about blowing boost through a carb (which is why I recommended it).

IMO this is comparing apples to oranges though- he's talking about $300 for a turbo and manifolds (would presumably just need intake plumbing, wastegate, and carb work) compared to a full supercharger kit.

I googled "The Blower Shop 6-71 SBC" and the first kit I found was this one:

http://www.alsblowers.com/theblowers...lowerkits.html

The base 671 SBC kit is ~5500 NZD (about $4000 USD) and thats with a reman'd GMC blower. Two totally different price ranges.

I think he was asking in general about boosting his carb'd motor.

Besides, you can pickup a 6-71 kit from Summit for about $3000 last time I looked... Or go to a local parts swap meet and get everything you need for $1500. There's about a million 6-71s out there.

im a little late for all of this but just a question whats your current combo? as in heads ,cam, carb, and pistons. you most definitely want to have a combo that works together. if i was going to slap a turbo or a blower onto my car id want a low compression motor with heads that can flow and a cam made for it. just my 2 cents.

Honestly, I don't see it being a huge deal- look at the LS4's; high compression (10.1 I think?); terrible flowing upper intake; and a NA designed cam- and still does ~500whp with a turbo.

Alky injection is the easy way to skirt running low-moderate boost levels on a higher compression engine; and I'd think as long as his current setup isn't too crazy of an NA build- that a mild boost setup could be made to work just fine.

i agre with bumpin about the cam intake and valve set up as well as the compression ratio as well. be care full with it when you do a turbo or a super set up because of the top end as well as the bottom end. i went threw some trial's with my mustang gt with the super charger i started with stock 10.1 compression ratio with port and pollished heades as well as a better breathing intake manifold as well as better cam and valve spring set up befor i tore in and went to a lower compression pistons, and better crank. what i am saying is becarefull when you do put it on. so you dont put on insane boost on a high compression motor it will devistate it. i would go no higher then 10 pounds maximum about 5 min before a low compression set up to handel any thing higher than 10 pounds of boost.

true. but the ls4s were motors that had practically no miles on them, have mostly forged bottom ends, 4-6 bolt mains and aluminum heads that flow well, and modern roller cam design. its a little different then strapping a turbo to a cast bottom end, 2 bolt main, gen 1, iron headed small block, that might have a million miles on it. now thats all speculation cause he never said what he has in that motor but just an example of what it could be. yeah itll make more power but why half *** it? if youre going to spend the money to throw a power at something id want it built to take it and make the most of it. at least bearings, rings, pistons, and a cam. 671 is over kill you could go with a 144\147ci for less and be way more streetable, but thats just my advice.
