Question 5.3L Carbed Engine

I got my Pace catalog about 2 weeks ago.

They have a 350 HP/370 LBFT TQ 325(5.3L) engine with a 600 Eddy Carb for about $5200 is this a good deal?

Would this motor pick up a few more HP/TQ with a 700-800 Holley DP carb & a Victor Jr intake(the supplied intake is an RPM)?

what car is this going into. the victor is pretty aggresive and you might over carb it. it should pick up power in the upper rpms though going from a high rise dual plane to the big single plane. i would look into a motor with some more cubes. that 325 is already cranking out pretty good power. do you have a link? i wonder what cam is in it. there are many sellers out there selling stouter small blocks for less.

I plan on building a 1983-1987 Monte Carlo SS.

Would like to use a N20 Fogger or twin Plate system for 200-375 HP.

i looked at the motor that youre looking at. i personally dont like it. the car youre looking to install that motor in isnt light weight so i would want the most low end torque and cubic inches i can get. with that said heres one its 500 more and not an aluminum block, but out hps and out tqs that thing. the cams not overly wild either so it should be more than streetable. i would go this route or similar. the motor that youre looking at doesnt include shipping or the serp set up so its going to be quite a bit more than 5200. also the motor that youre looking at doesnt give a description of the bottom end, and if your going to spray 300+ id want to run forged.

i dont know what your goal is with this car, but i assume its a street race or 1/4 mile car? correct me if im wrong on that. like i said i would shop around a little, and if i were to run a lsx setup in my car id want it to be injected. seems silly to me to run a carbed lsx motor. ls1 cars routinely go 11/10s with factory or similar fuel injection setups. if i were to be hunting for a lsx i would look for a ls1/2/6 or lq4/9 from a trashed car on ebay. just a little food for thought you can probably find them with low mileage with the computer for less than that carbed 5.3 and they all should make more power except for the lq4, but what it lacks in power it makes up for in size and price.
