Default Carburetor Help

I just bought a 1986 Monte Carlo LS with a 305. A previous owner changed the carburetor to a computer controlled QuadraJet, and now the car won't run right to save it's life. I was wondering would there be a problem if I disregarded and, and bypassed all the computer controls and installed a traditional carburetor. Would that be a problem, or should I fix the old carburator.

Default RE: Carburetor Help

if you bypass you ecu with a older style carb you will need the old style distributor as well the one wil the coil in the cap and vac. advance
but the ccc Q-jet's can work real good if everything is there that is needed to work
