Default New carburetor????

My car has been sounding like it's going to shut off when i come to a stop after driving for a while. Then the acceleration is horrible once i start moving again. I have a factory 305 in my car. Do you think it's the carb? If so, i need some help in picking out a new one. I heard holley is the best but edelbrock is best if you don't race (which i don't). I don't know anything about carb specs so need some help. Thanks!!!

if you go with an aftermarket carb you will have to either get a spread bore carb, squar bore with adapter plate or a new intake you will also have to swap out the dist for a vac advance base becuase if you remove the comp controlled carb it will make it run horid becuase the timming wont advance becuase the comp doesn.y know the a/f ratio and where the trottle is

So just search for square bore carbs? Maybe a Holley?

you need a spreadbore. holley makes a spreadbore and the edelbrocks, carters are spreadbore. dont forget a vacuum advance distributor. before you do that have you checked the fuel filter and for any vacuum leaks?
