Default Crankcase Valve

well i replaced my LIM gasket last night and got everything back together. Somewhere along the way the crankcase valve (I believe this it what it is called) fell off and is lost in a black hole somewhere. I've been searching trying to find a part number but can't seem to find anything. Can anybody help me out?

Are you talking about the valve in the valve cover that is connected to the intake? Its called the PCV valve. Try searching using that name.

Yes that's what I'm talking about. I looked at the illustrations at gmparts.com and couldn't find the part I was looking for anywhere. What system is it part of? The EGR?

No, its just part of the emmissions. It opens when pressure builds up in the crankcase and lets out the gases emmitted from blowby and hot oil inside the crankcase. The suction from the intake draws the gases out of the crankcase and back into the cylinders to be burnt again, then when pressure is equalized, it closes again.

Assuming you have a monte with the 3.8, I found this. This is the only site I looked on but advance auto, carquest, autozone, ect should have the same parts:
