Now is this true, my monte's optima battery is on the right side.
I didn't know it, they changed positions.
The 5th Gen Monte Carlos had the 3800 engine, but the battery was on the driver's side, that is what they refer to

I agree with Nitehawk. Coming from experience it is not really worth it to go all out on a NA build (I'm still all NA). I have seen top swaps go for less than $500 on clubgp.com. That includes the heads, LIM, s/c, balancer, and a few other things that you will need to do. If you save your money, you can go s/c'd for relatively little money, say $1000 when it's all said and done, and you have a reliable and nicely modified car with plenty of options left later on.
However, if you are set on not going s/c'd then your cheapest route would be to go with a set of rockers (ZZPerformance for example) and a few bolt ons. But believe me, when you start modifying, you will get the bug and want to go bigger and better.
I vote for saving for a top swap. You will eventually be able to get more whp than what I have and you will have spent a lot less too.

Downpipe > U-Bend delete

The downpipe replaced the WHOLE pipe, including the U-bend with a pipe that isn't double-walled and a huge restriction. Also has a high-flo cat.

There actually are headers available for the 3400 v6. You will have to call for prices, but the website is here: http://www.ssheaders.com/V6.htm
