Nope no more box. It increased horsepower by some and the sound of the engine under full throttle now is more idk how to say it but it sounds alot better. The acceleration and throttle response is also better

can you take a pic? if you don't have any type of air-box, you may be doing more harm then good im afraid.

your pulling hot air from the engine bay which could be causing high KR (Knock retard) at WOT (wide open throttle), not to mention nothing to filter out the Dust/debris, which could seriously hurt your engine...

i highly recommend you doing the CAI, or making yourself a FWI using a cone filter, and 4" flex tube...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJZTVwWI310

Here is some info on KR, if you don't already know.

Oh, that's not that bad, you do have a filter on there.

you could easily turn that into a FWI, with a longer tube (i suggest a solid tube of the same diameter). if you do flex, Just remember to keep it as straight as possable, the more curves and bends you have the harder the engine has to work to suck in the air...

sorry, i somehow missed part of this thread...i blame the rain...

The ubend delete will allow your engine to breath better, you wont see and high gains, maybe a couple of HP, but everything helps. when you do the delete, you don't have to get rid of the O2 sensor, you simply change the angle so not to hit the undercarriage.

if you remove the cat, you have to remove the O2 sensor codes from the PCM, or you can get an O2 emulator but i don't have any experience with them so i cant tell you much.

Are there really any chips out there on the market that actually add horsepower to your car and are worth it. Im looking into maybe buying a chip for my 2003 SS since i dont have the couple grand needed for a supercharger
You can't change the 'chip', like in some pcm's; ours get re-flashed. So either you replace the PCM with a tuned one, or you have someone plug in and tune your pcm. There are many PCM's out there from various places like ZZP, Intense, DHP- ($100+) etc etc; and there are 2 main tuners out there that let you do it yourself: HPTuners and DHP Powrtuner ($400-500). There is also the option of driving to a tuning shop and having them do a dyno tune (about $200-300+).

I really think I'd look into other basic bolt ons first- even before buying a pre-tuned pcm. Add to the list of mods given above to include ER rockers as well.

i was looking at tuned PCM's but some say you need to buy a new cat back exhaust and CAI like this one. Idk if it matters or not but i have a performance air filter on my car now i took out the stock airbox and put a performance air filter right were the airbox connected. Would i still need to buy a CAI?
You don't have to- that may just be what the tune is set up for (meaning they based their tune around a car with a catback and CAI).

Also, your filter stuck on the end of the tube is called a HAI or hot air intake- you increased the flow of the intake, but you're actually hurting yourself by sucking in the hot air. At stoplights, heat is bellowing off that exhaust crossover, and soaking your filter in heat. When you get moving- air comes through the radiator (which is ~200), and is circulated around the engine bay- into your filter. So your intake air temperature is much much higher than stock. Definitely either extend the tubing into the fenderwell- or build a plastic box around it to help keep the heat out. Either way is cheap and a great DIY project.

and what happens to the 02 sensor when its deleted
One of two things- if you get a catless downpipe, it is usually just deleted. So either you wire tie up the harness and have the code turned off in your pcm via a tune; or you plug in an O2 simulator, and zip tie it out of the way.

Or, if you get a catted downpipe- or just a ubend delete section, the O2 sensor sticks straight out the side of the pipe, like on the newer Wbodys.
