I have a 4.3 lt v6 - 86Monte Carlo and I would love to find out what v8 engine will fit in with the least amount of work and needed parts. I'm going to be looking for someone to do this work for me since I'm not much of a mechanic and I would like to start looking around for what engine to buy and what I will need in order for this swap to go as smooth and cheap as possible.

I had a 83 Cutlass with a 6 cylinder that I dropped a 350 in. No room for the fan, had to run electrics on the radiator. The clearance between the radiator and water pump pulley was about 2 inches.

Thought number 2 is make sure the suspension can handle the extra weight of the motor.

Thought number 3 is have you entertained building that 4.3? I had an 89 Blazer that had been rebuilt and kicked up a notch and that was an awesome little engine.

 

Do you know what was done to kick the v6 up a notch, this engine I have now only has 54 thousand on it so if there is things I can do to add some ***** to this motor I will. I was thinking some exhaust work could help with sound

 

Just from memory of the blazer I know the prior owner had bored it out and put a roller cam in. As far as specific grind etc. on the cam I dont know. You are basically dealing with a small block chevy in the 4.3. Just another option for the research and it might save cash and fitment issues.
