My '03 came from the factory with the front STB, but installing the rear one made the car feel 'tighter' and reduced body flex during corning. It's an inexpensive addition I'd recommend to anyone that owns a Monte.

Make sure you have deep sockets for the rear.

I climbed into the trunk, it was a piece of cake. Stock, I had the front STB

I have a pair on my Monte, but I have not driven it enough to notice any significant difference.
They have two styles now, one for Montes which is similar to the newer Grand Prixs and one for 97-03 gp's... Shouldn't have to oblong the holes anymore.

I'll be darned, they DO offer two styles now!
Style 1 - 97-03 Grand Prix, and '06 Impala/Monte
Style 2 - 04+ Grand Prix, and '04-05 Monte Carlo/Impala
I find the differences kinda funny. Sure, they have to offer them like a year or something AFTER I got mine...

OH well, good information to pass along!!

I've long thought about getting stb's for my monte. My only concern is about the stb interfeering when i get my sub in the 04. Otherwise it seems like a real easy way to add a little rigidity to the car. I'd have to look and see if i have a front stb or not. Do they really make that much of a difference?

I figured it would be a fairly cheap mod that may have some benefit.

Any difference going from my 03 SS that had the factory STB in the front to my 06 SS that doesn't have one wasn't really noticeable. Now, maybe I'd notice the difference more if it was on the same car.

I don't know what difference installing the front only make (my car came with it) but installing the rear made quite a difference in how my car corners. Before during a hard corner you could feel the body flex and literally resist the path of the front wheels. Now I don't feel the rear end flex and it tracks a lot better through the corners. For me, the benefits far outweigh the price and 15 minutes time to install. A racheting flex handle box end wrench and torque wrench worked nicely without getting near the speakers.
