Default Front wheel hub replacement

Hello all,
New to the forum looks like a great site.

I was told a while back (when I got new tires) that My passenger side wheel bearing/hub was making a little noise, since then it has gotten pretty loud-roaring. So I went and bought the part today. Can someone tell me what size the big nut on the spindle is?
I did a search to see if anyone had posted a thread with installation instructions, and I found this https://montecarloforum.com/m_13073/tm.htm
It said this "Refer to Wheel Bearing/Hub Replacement - Front in Front Suspension. "
Is there a thread that shows this info.

Any help/pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Its a 2000 LS 3.4

Default RE: Front wheel hub replacement

I just got my MC out of the shop. It was shaking and vibrating while acceleratng. They told me it was the passenger side front hub and replaced it and the bearings.$418.00!!!! And that wasn't it. Drove off in the car, still shaking. Went back and told them, and it ended up being the drive shaft to the passenger side wheel. Another$225.00. Hope you have better luck!

Thanks for the input.
I replaced it today, it was'nt too bad, took me a couple hours, taking my time.
Here is a very informative website of replacing it on a Pontiac Grand Prix, was identical to my car.
http://www.paulstravelpictures.com/G...ent/index.html

The only thing I did different was used a torque wrench to re-torque the spindle nut to 180 ft. lbs.

Hello, I am new to this forum. I had the same problem with rex two years ago but I was not able to figure it out and do it myself so I just let the mechanic do it. I totally don't have an idea back then so I just purchased the parts needed and let the pro do it for me. Well, I think it's a pretty easy job to do. I guess, next time. I will try to do it myself.

Default How long will a bad wheel bearing last?

My front R wheel bearing went out about 5 days ago. The sound has gotten louder. I have driven 30 miles a day on it since. How long before it goes out? is this a fix that needs to be taken care of immediately or can it wait a hundred more miles? Thank you for your help!
