Default 66 Mustang vs 2000 Mustang

I have mention before that I have a 66 Mustang with a 289 Hipo motor, 4 speedwith some work done to it but here is a story about what happen Sat. night. It was a nice night and I havn't driven the car in about a week and half so I decided to take it out for a little drive. I went and got gas in it and started out. I was cruising around for about 1/2 hour and I was on the outside of town heading towards my buddies house when I came up to a red light and pulled up next to a 00 GT, 5 speed, that was rumbling. He looked over and said nice car, and asked if she runs as good as she sounds and I said lets find out and laugh. He just smiled and nodded his head, I heard him rev it up so I reved up ready to launch. The light turns green we both stuck off the line pretty good little tire spin from me when I went full throttle but still dead even with him, I slammed 2nd, chirped them out hard and pulled away by half a car, and was pulling away from him. Slammed 3rd, chirped 3rd and when I let off I was about a car and half to 2 carsinfront of him. We pulled into a movie theater that is out there and got to talking. He was shocked that this old car pulled on him like that. All he had done was an intake and catback exhaust.Lets just say I was a prouddad that day, lol. Can't wait to get those gt40 heads and that bigger cam in there.

well what he probably won't believe is that the 66 only weighs about 2800 lbs or so... his is around 3400 i believe, plus those older cars run higher rpm's. good to know hte classics can still pull one off

Yep I was proud of her. It's a coupe so it's pretty light. The hipo motor was pretty nice for starters. But now she has a bigger 4 barrel carb, full length headers, full exhaust, (she screams)small cam, hurst shifters, posi rear end with 4:10's. She'll move for sure. I love classics
