Hi I have recently had a problem with my sunroof. I don't know what happened. I shut it one day and it started rattling making alot of noise. It closed but it seemed like it was shaking as it did so. This past week has been in the 90's and even reached 100 So I like to open the sun roof. It still opens making no noise when it opens and it stops half way when it opens. When it shuts it makes all kinds of noise but it shuts. I don't know what the problem is if its off the track some how or anything. I don't know were to look to see if something is jammed. I had it someone open and close it while I looked at the top and I didn't see anything out of the normal. Help?

 

This same thing happened to my '06 SS. I figured that the grease was worn out after so many cycles of open/close. I applied some gun grease to the runners that I happened to have and it solved the problem. My guess is it just needs a little lube.

I am gonna try to use the white lubricant grease that I saw some people talking about. I dont think its the motor because it runs fine just I think it might be sticky or dirty on the rails and that thats what is causing it to click and open and close slower than normally. Hopefully it is just that because that is a much cheaper fix then having to replace the motor. Would I be able to pick this grease up and just any regular automotive store? What would you recommend to use to degrease what is already up there? Thanks for everything.
