Just trying to give other options, no need to get upset. I just figured if you split it in half (assuming the skirts are about 6" tall or less) and buying the cheapest stuff out there, you should be able to do it for well under $50. If you're able to split it in half, you should only need 4 ft of material (which you would cut into 8x pcs of 6"x5'). It's not as far fetched as you'd think. No doubt it would never be as cheap as plastidip, but it would look better than paint and last longer.

I honestly hadn't heard you were unemployed, although I'll admit I don't read every post on the forums. I only frequent a few specific sections. Given that (and especially since it's a DD and will see lots of wear and tear) I wouldn't rush to do something just for the sake of doing it. IMO you'll be happier if you wait and save to get it done right if it's really what you want.

I've found that PlastiDip knock-off is pretty durable if you put it on thick enough. But I mean like 8-10 coats, at which point it is still not a good economic solution. Touch up are cheap/ easy with flat colored rattle cans. That always a plus

I have the spokes on my rims dipped black as well as the silver trim around the base of the body red. The spokes have stayed on for a little over two years now and I am finally having one come off. The red has been there for a year perfectly. It does look a little cheap because of the matte finish but for the price you can't beat it.
