I'll figure something out. I'm usually good at that. I'll use my Mad Scientist powers.

that was the thread someone here had posted a link to that gave me the idea to begin with. some of those are AMAZING. i won't be getting that creative, but i'm thinking a two-tone or striped effect. i'll figure it out once i get it and clean it and everything.

Thanks for all the help guys and Gals!! I finally just went and Did it. I have a 2000 black ss so I painted the cover red and will go back and outline in black. I'm just hoping that the Krylon paint holds up to the heat.

i did mine to match my outside paint..

sand the bumpyness with a 320 coursest 220..get it smooth as you can then spay an adhesion promoter on it than a filler primer. sand the filler with no courser than a 400, if you'd like sand that with a 600 then shoot desired color onto it. clear and DONE

i did that before i realized what i posted. now its silky smooth like my outside paint. that was just sanding with a 400 from the get and no primer.

trust me. sand with 320ish to rid the bumps then adhesion then filler primer. NOT sealer. filler allows it to fill and you can sand the extra away..i'd even spray some more adhesion to make sure the paint bites to the primer

best way is to make your own mistakes and learn off it. or learn off others, saves money with the latter!

Thanks for distracting me from my online class lol

Awesome thread, good ideas of how just a few pieces painted can add a nice custom touch

Yea I am a little jealous, I am not great at painting I tried to paint my sub box into white, not so great on my second coat got the paint to run, so I had a professional fix it, which wasn't bad at all, But I should practice on some scrap pieces to get practice and then try,

I would like to have my pieces checkered flag painted, but I do like how some were engine pieces were white to match a white car, even if I paint my engine cover in white with black lettering that would be different

good thread
