I'm going to do it in the next couple of weeks, just waiting for a really nice weekend so i can be generous with my drying times

(then I'm going to tackle doing more engine parts / fuse covers inside the car / certain door parts) After I get comfortable with the process of painting plastic

and I would REALLY love to pain the bow-tie on my steering wheel red (it's small and caved in though) so I'm not sure the best way to do that :P

That's a good idea. I should try to find a nice cheap one. I was thinking bail polish but I like your way better. I think it will go good with the black and red wheelskin I just bought

you can probably control the paint pen better. nail polish would need a good couple of coats too, and would probably chip off after not too long. especially if you got a crappy kind.

i like the idea, hmmm...might do that to mine! i'm gonna steal yer great idea

I wanted mine smooth, so i used a few coats of primer and sanded each coat to make it smooth. Wet sanding produces best results. Used high temp paint, and used the overlays for the letters.

hehe. i'll be looking around for a darker orange one that will match my trim. neon orange won't do!

i did buy that engine cover yesterday from morad. can't wait to get it and figure out what i want to do with it as far as paint. i'm definitely getting those overlays for the raised letters and stripes, but i still want to paint it. i was thinking of trying to get creative and match the trim on my doors. we'll see.

A trick you can use to paint on the lettering is rub vasaline over everything you dont want paint on. Then use a rattle can, or mask off the letters with tape, the hard way haha.

i saw that idea on the grand prix forum, that's a cool idea. i never would have thought of doing that. i still think i'm going to get the overlays for the lettering, i have an idea of the colors i want to get. but for the rest of the cover....well that's still up in the air.

I painted both of my covers with left over caliper paint - and a steady hand.
