For the entire time I have owned my 2004 Blue Monte Carlo, the air deflector had a crack in it (can be seen near the top of the comparison pic near one of the bolt holes) and looks potentially abused by being out of shape. This past fall/winter, I bought a brand new one. I removed the old one to find GM used bolts with a special washer pressed on to them (it has a step to help prevent over tightening the deflector). Since my Monte was a daily driver before I bought it, those bolts has a little rust on them. I separated the special washers, had a friend sand blast and powder coat them, married them with new stainless bolts, a facing stainless washer and a lock washer (so if anyone ever looks under the car, it looks "fancy" lol). I am addicted to stainless hardware. I only re-used the original washers for the step they had to ensure no over tightening of the deflector. Odds are I could have done without.
