Default Cracking clear coat. How to hide it or fix it? Black car.

Yep! Its cracking. Got lots of little Y and K shapes on the hood. Little white marks. Looks like the clear is cracking.

Anyway to fix this? Or even hide it? Its a black car. Would that turtle wax black box hide it?

Thanks!

to fix it...you would be looking at a repaint

and i doubt it can be hidden very well with a black wax. usually once the clear cracks you are pretty much screwed...it's a pretty crappy situation sorry to hear about it.

has your hood been painted? modern factory paint jobs very very rarely do this

Are the cracks only on the hood? This doesn't seem right for a 5-yr.-old car. Before you pay for a paint job, why don't you try a scratch repair kit like they recommend for chips from rocks? If your touch-up paint is an exact match it'll look pretty good (but not like new).

It's a problem on the surface of the car that is going through the paint, there is no way to fix it.

I have the same "birds feet" on my car too in places. It's just what happens to a car that sits outside

once that happens, nothing short of being sanded and repainted can fix it ... its what happens when cars sit outside in the sun and weather without wax on it ... unfortunately for you, it wont be a cheap fix ...

but on the bright side you could help make an informal public service announcement for everyone else and get some pictures of it ...

sucks for sure
