Getting closer but man I hate how long the little things take. It doesn’t help I sit there over thinking things which slows progress down. And my health issues. I have delayed pressure Uticaria so bent over the fender my chest swells up, laying on a creeper my shoulder will swell, hand gets pinched yup that swells… it miserable but I keep chuggin along.
Todays progress was trying to fit the header extensions to make it run through the humps on the cross member,
I’ll need to modify them… told the wife I need 3things, a bigger garage, a lift and a welder
Need to shorten them up a little to not hit the cross member and a small pie cut on the driver side to make it angle down just a touch.
Guess that mean I’m driving it to work open headers one day,
Couple of junk wires fixed, got those all routed, got the heater hoses hooked up, not a fan… might have to revisit thier routing with some new hoses, fuel line routed, again not a huge fan of how I have it need to order a 90 for at the pump as the last one I did was the wrong size.
so it got a strait and looped the hose the time being
Cut up the stock dizzy to make a priming tool, getting oil everywhere I need it and 60lbs with the drill I’m good with that even tho I really shortened the lid of my drill. Just gives me a reason to get a fuel brushless one!(it might have been sizzling alittle)

Holy man multi post update comming been a whirlwind of a summer
got her fired up cam broke in and she was sounding strong!
Take to run to the gas station not 3 blocks away I give it the Beans and well sounded great was moving great let off at 4k started hearing a tapping so start pulling over. Popped it in neutral and as I was reaching for the key it goes is chunk and dies, coasted most of the way home grabbed the girls car and towed it home
Plan was to run through the 305 throw some new gaskets at it and toss it in. That did not happen got a message from a racing friend say hey I got a 400 for ya
went up and picked it up the next day he had gotten it from another race friend at some point and doesn’t have a use for it. Stock motor he said it might have a cam in it but wasn’t sure
Started working on getting the 350 back out and 400 in
The motor came with a meldon design for a Vega but fit great in the g-body
Picking away at it
And so begins the tear down of the 350… that’s a rod cap that’s a bit too strait

Well when ya break it break it good right!?
This ones on me idk if I just didn’t torque that rod or what but clearly the nuts came off and it lost a cap,
first motor I built that was torn down to nothing and in turn first one I blew up
all in all it was toast all the way around. Piston smacked the head, cracked the block, broke the cam, gouged the crank, into the scrap heap it went
Took it to local sub shop to grab some grub and some old car there so I joined them
Off to work to do some exhaust, yup not an exhaust guy it dump at the rear axle
June 5 the I drove it to work. It’s our anniversary so I left work a little early ripping down the freeway and I loose tach and it pops through the exhaust a bunch and dies,
she came and saved me with my truck and towed it back to work.

So that following Friday I stayed and worked on her. I brought the trailer to work with me so I could bring her home,
I tried starting it a few time and it would sometimes start and others it would kick back like the timing was set way too advanced.
So started inspecting things, check coil out, found the ground wire that plugged into the coil from the ignition modular was loose in it connector so no ground caused the issue, got that in correctly and replace the ignition module to be safe
replace the starter and starter bolts since the way it would kick back bent the starter bolts,
found my alt ejected the bearing on the back so warrantied that
Noticed one of the secondary venturies was dripping fuel
loaded her up and went home
That’s where she stayed for some time. Because June 3rd the dirks car took a dump jumped timing.
Let me tell you not a fun job that I inevitiably did twice because I got one cam off one tooth. That’s a $850 timing set that is a pain in the rear
I did pull her out to take it for a spin, clean the carb, replace the needle and seat,
bad new bears it revels great in the driveway but once your got load on it driving it would break up real bad if you got into it much, replaced the distributor and plug wires which solved it
Got new radials for the rear nittos
As I put the new plug wires I picked up moroso plug wire holders to clean things up
Had to give her a bath now that she runs and drives nicely

Got gauges mounted they had been just floating around in the passenger footwell
Wheels got out on and man do I love these things!
Fronts don’t look as silly as I thought they would so that’s a plus. Had to order deeper center caps
put some Monroe air shocks out back since my stocks where clapped out
these things hook and book! With the bfg’s I could spin the one wheel coz it’s non posi from like 20 these just move out!
I did have one casualty thought I got everything out from under the car.. guess I missed a center cap from the baby moons that got squished when I drove out
