Wayne, I know what you mean. When our boxer had cancer, I prayed she would go in her sleep so we wouldn't have to do it. The day she passed was pretty bad, she was having more bad days than good and we were talking about taking her in to have it done in a day or two. She passed that evening and we were spared that.

I did have to have a cat put to sleep. She was drowning on her on blood, had lessions or something in her lungs. It still haunts me, but there was no other choice. I pray the two old cats I have now will go in their sleep when it's time, I just don't know if I can do it again. I always sway I won't let myself get that attached, but turn around and do it anyway.
