Please take a few minutes... (9/11 Memorial)

remember 911
Fellow forum users, i know we all come from all different corners of this great nation, with our own opinions on what happened this day.. But lets all take this day to remember those lost 12 years ago, the brave men and women who took it upon themselves to serve this country when they felt that we were in danger. The first thing that comes to mind when i remember this day was the marine corps birthday message that came out back in 2011. This message inspires me every day of my life and I would like to share it with my fellow Monte Carlo community, enjoy

I'm bumping this thread for 2014. Please check out the previous posts, including the first post on the first page. Share your story about that day, honor someone lost, honor those protecting our freedom, etc.
But as in previous years...
ABSOLUTELY NO CONSPIRACY THEORIES OR POLITICAL DISCUSSION IN THIS THREAD. CREATE A NEW THREAD FOR THAT.
This is a memorial thread.
Thanks!

The anniversary of Sept 11th always brings back the memories of that horrible , tragic day. As a fire chief in the Detroit area my pager and radio lit up with reports of a plane hitting the WTC in New York. AS I turned on the TV I saw the 2nd plane strike and knew in my heart that our country was at war. AS numbing as this all was, my department and all others that Im aware of didn't dwell on the tragedy , but looked to how we could help the survivors and the families of the dead.
Fire departments around the USA can be proud of the millions of Dollars raised for the Families , and for the rescue teams we all sent to NY.
On this anniversary of 911, I have just completed being part of a Moving Wall Event for our Veterans and Pray our message of Never Forgetting our soldiers and First responders Rings Loud and Clear to all my fellow Americans.
I Pray the lessons learned on that fateful day are not lost on us , Or we may have to pay again .
If you can read this , Thank a Teacher
If you can read this in English, Thank a Soldier

With what's going on in the world, I'm somewhat expecting to be receiving orders at some point in the future to go overseas. When I do, I won't forget those before me (Including some I've served with) who have given the ultimate sacrifice in service of our country. Nor the sacrifices of our Canadian brethren who serve alongside us across the world.
