That is a picture of soldiers at Kandahar air field, honoring a fallen soldier as his body is being loaded onto a plane for his last trip home.

But I also think of something David Letterman said on his first show following 9/11:

In the years we've been in New York, we've worked closely with the police officers and fire fighters. And fortunately most of us don't have to think too much about what these men and women do on a daily basis.

The phrase, "New York's Finest" and "New York's Bravest". Did it mean anything to us personally first hand? Well, maybe, hopefully. But probably not. But it means something now, doesn't it?

They put themselves into harms way to protect people like us. And my hope for everyone is that we never take these people for granted.

Whether we're talking about our military personelle, or the police and fire fighters. We're talking about real people. People with families, friends, and lives of their own. It takes a lot of courage to do what these people do. Courage doesn't mean you're not scared. It means you go anyway.

Our military go to battle. The fire fighters went into the burning World Trade Center towers. All our men and women in uniform put themselves into harms way for one reason. People needed them.

When this happened...
I was still working for MGM Casino...
When I awoke at my usual time to get ready for work.... (I always had the tv set on the news) I thought I was watching a movie... Until I realized from the commentary...That it was live! and actually happening! This sent chills down my spine .. and I couldn't take my eyes off the television...
Then it clicked... We were then in the old IRS building and they were in the building next door to the Casino... I thought...what if they attack here?
Not only the IRS..But also we have a few oil fineries right around the corner as well as off I-75 .... What a huge problem/loss that would have been with all the people that not only work there ...But also the neighborhoods surrounding them...

Naturally once arriving to work..It was on every television in the building and still on going....
To this day I still cant get those sights out of my mind or brain...

My heart, soul and prayers go out to all who knew anyone and all the familys that lost loved ones that horrific day....

Prayers and Blessings to one and all!
