Justin. Having worked at G.M. for yrs in the machine shop. I ran across these IDIOTS all the time. I surprised they can tie their shoes let alone put something together on paper. I got into heated so called discussions with some of theses IDIOTS at times. Once I had to be spererated from one one thses guys. I don't know why or how these guys get hired! I beleive its the same at G.M , Ford & others. Cause it works on paper. they thingk it will work in the real world. of which they have no clue. nough said

I've known that engineers were nuts for years. On a late 80's s10 4 wheel drive you have to notch the firewall to remove a transmission bolt. it says it right in the factory repair manual. On my monte I had to drill out the plastic rivets to change the heater core and then replace them with screws. Now in my opinion you shouldn't have to modify a vehicle to replace parts.

I think the problem is the engineers don't think (or care) about having to fix the engine. The engine is built out of the car, then mounted into the car fully assembled. Once it's in the car and working at the factory, they don't care.
But I have to think that when car companies do stuff like that, they're really hoping the cost of repair will make owners want to trade it in for a new car.
As for the power window thing in the Neon's. I'm thinking that Chrysler figures that most of the time people don't use the back seat of their car. So why spend extra money installing a wire harness and window electrics for the back seat, if nobody's gonna use it anyway?
All car companies scrimp on things to save money. I remember most 4 door cars from the 80's had back seat windows that only opened half way. If they even opened at all. My dad's 79 Impala and 84 LeSabre were like that.
