Justin,
If you go to buy something with the 4.3L, make darn sure you look it over well. I would ask if you can have the cooling system pressure tested before you buy it. The 4.3L has the same head gasket/ intake gasket issues as some 3.4L and 3.8L's. Plus i've read the Dex-cool often gels in these engines (1996 and newer). So if you do go for it, just make sure it does not have cooling issues that you may not realize at first.

you suuure you dont want a nice 5th gen LS? got a huuuge trunk....
justin, personally if you were gonna go for a blazer or an astro i would swing towards a blazer with the 4.3 vortec. the astro really gets horrible fuel milage, almost the same as a vortec blazer, and the blazer has the benifit of 4wd.
if you go for a blazer, and its the older style, i've heard about the injectors (spyder injectors?) going bad, and its a verrrry expencive fix. there is a mint '93 jimmy about 5 houses up the road from me with bad injectors. also rust issues.
for the newer blazers, they can have rust issues in the body mount aereas, and the front suspention seems to be pretty much falling out of any one i have come across with more than 140k on it. and the transfer case has that annoying bump on the passenger floor.
the lil vortec engine is awsome IMO, my one friend has a '98 blazer, vortec/ auto, it will roast the tires reeeal easy
and you can find em for cheap, too. another family friend just picked one up for free, its a black '96 2dr with the vortec and a 5 speed. it was a lil beat up, but its awsome
