help! 04 impala tranny..
Hey guys, my mom drives a 2004 3.4L V6 Base Impala. the other day she was driving for about an hour and was in traffic and she said it was shifting very abruptly from 1st to 2nd, and wasnt shifting properly through all gears. The car has about 54,000 miles on it.
What could the issue be? Is there a common issue that these trannys have?
(side note: my dad drives a 2000 impala 3.4L V6 and it has 103,000 miles and has never had any tranny issues.)
thanks for the help

First, check the transmission fluid. If you have low fluid levels, it can cause some weird things. Outside of that, I don't know, I'm not much on transmissions.
If you end up needing a replacement transmission, I do have this one for sale (was bolted to an L26 3800 S3, so not sure if the gears are different then the one in the 3400).

2nd on what Jason stated.
Lucas has a transmission fix fluid I believe helps give Tranny a little bit more of life before it goes.
I came to point you to Jasons Tranny he is selling. :P
As far as doing anything to your current transmission, you will find out is almost just as much fixing than replacing.
I just went through buying a used one.
Most places charge limbs to open and see what the issue maybe.
That's why I just got a used one ... It was more affordable, to me.
Good luck.
