Not knowing what I wanted to do, one year after H.S. joined the Navy in 1982. Was given a job as a Personnel Specialist (Human Resources) and stayed in until my retirement in 2002. Was fortunate enough to get a job working for the State of Ohio in my field of Human Resources. Was promoted quickly working for the Unemployment Compensation office (HQ level) and am now a Program Administrator 3 (fancy for management). Goes to show that hard work can get you just as much ahead as a college degree.

I just began my career in the human services field in January. I'm a residence aide in a group home. I take care of (well, supervise) ten individuals with intellectual disabilities. Love it. I hope to go back to school next year for psychology.

I got my degree in Business Marketing. While going to college I started off working retail, and quickly got into retail management. I spent 1.5 years doing that. Then took a job as a customer service rep for a labor staffing company, 1.5 years after starting staffing, I got promoted to Branch Manager and continued working at the labor agency as the Manager while I went to school. Once I graduated, I took a job at another staffing company that specializes in light industrial staffing. Been promoted twice with this company, now running it. Never thought 8 years ago when I took the job as a CSR for the labor staffing company that the staffing industry would become my career...but it has and it's been a highly rewarding path so far.

I was a union brick layer right out of high school which economy took a crap and got laid off. Went to advance auto and was the commercial parts manager and then left there for a way better paying job in the oil field which I am currently doing.

My job is very long hours and requires some travel but pays good and benefits are good. they pay me to blow crap up for a living, what else could be more fun!

I was a maintenance man in a McDonald's in the Bronx. One of our Berger toasters wasn't working. A manager from another store came in with a briefcase. He took out a mutineer and took some readings. Then he took out what looked like a copper probe with 2 wires hanging off of it. He removed one from the toaster, put the new one in, turned the toaster on and wa la, it worked. At that moment I decided I wanted to do that.
Well, I became a Manager and after 2 years I realized that in order for me to ad Advance in the company, a lot of people had to die, So I killed them!
No, just kidding!!!!!
I joined the Navy! They offered me advanced electronic s training. In 18 months I would have Yvette equivalent of a 2 year electronics degree. So I jumped on it and haven't regretted it for a second.
Since then, I have been a Cell phone tech, computer tech, arcade game tech, (for a year I was the only technician on the planet for the Arcade versions of Terminator, H2 Overdrive and Guitar Hero. Any of you who know the Buck Hunter series, I was THE master technician for that game series.)
Now I am a Q.A. inspector for electronic test equipment. And my company is sending me back to School to Fine tune my abilities!
I am a fixer according to my mother. She says I've been fixing things since I was 3. And although a am no master, I am a self taught mechanic.

Electronic is my job, mechanics is my hobby and computers are just fun.
Ultimately, I would like to go to M.I.T.then become a Scottie or a Jordy, Yes I'm a star trek geek.
I like being a fixer, and always strive to be not The Best, just the best that I can be!
So That's the story of how I found my carrier. Hope I didn't bore you too much?
