Question 2006 cobalt SS Aux?

so my roommate does not want to just go the FM transmitter route and he has the pioneer sound system with XM. I saw you can splice the xm wires and solder in an AUX wire. I know many of you have done similar setups in your cars with less cuting and soldering. hes on a budget and he is iffy on damaging the XM wires even though he does not have XM service. Cost is a major factor as well so what would be the safest most reliable way to add an aux input

I would buy one of those wired transmitters that goes through the antenna. I will look one off line later for you. They are not that much and probably the safest bet.
