Default 2006 Monte Carlo SS, 2006 Cobalt SS

I was just looking at some quarter mile times and some 0-60 times and the 06' MC SS and 06' Cobalt SS seem to have very similar statistics. So is the Cobalt SS really able to keep up with the MC SS? Which car is actually faster? I'm wondering how a 4 cylinder supercharged is able to keep up with these V8's. This might be a stupid question to some but can someone please explain? I love my MC SS but I'm really wondering why I am burning all this gas with my V8 when I could be running a little rocketship like that.

Don't forget some Cobalt SSs were turbo charged.
Plus I would imagine the Monte is a lot heavier.

I don't think that the supercharged cobalt can keep up. The Turbo cobalt will, though.
Remember, the cobalt is a lot smaller than a Monte (and weighs less). Yes it may be as quick, but it is still just a souped up small car.

I enjoy having a big and roomy coupe with lots of power. A cobalt just wouldn't cut it for me everyday.

Yea im strictly referring to the supercharged version of the cobalt. I did consider the weight difference but other than that, I figured the 5.3 L v8 would be able to clean out a little 4 cylinder 2.0L engine supercharged or not. The cobalt supercharged and turbocharged should both take 91 octane im betting anyway so throw the cost argument out that I had. And yea I want to agree with you since I have a MC but all that power our cars have can't even blow away that little souped up cobalt? They probably feel just as powerful no? Iwas shocked when I seen the stats.

A supercharged cobalt is only 205 HP, and runs to 60 in the mid 6's. It does the quarter in the high 14's. A ls4 Monte is faster than this.
Besides, there are lots of cars faster than ours, and lots of cars slower. It isn't all about what's fastest, you know.

The supercharged cobalt could have a "stage 2" programming (tuning) done from the factory. This brought it to 250hp and they could also come with an LSD. That would add a lot of traction to a light car. That 50 HP difference is NOTHING compared to those.

Yea I agree with you overall, I know it isnt about that always. As I said, I was just totally surprised that those 4 cylinder engines had that much guts. I do like the looks of our cars a lot better as well.
